What Scan Assistant processes, when it connects, and the controls available to you.

Scope and developer

This policy covers Scan Assistant for Android (com.glumes.qrscanner) and this website, developed by Glumes. Contact ezglumes@gmail.com. No account registration is required.

Code contents and local records

Camera frames and selected gallery images are processed on your device using ML Kit and ZXing. They are not uploaded to our servers as part of scanning. Code contents, contacts, locations, URLs, Wi-Fi passwords and generated codes can be stored in local app history. Camera permission enables live scanning; the system photo picker grants access to the images you select.

Local records can contain sensitive information. Exporting and sharing are actions you initiate. You choose where exported files are stored. Apps receiving shared content follow their own privacy policies.

Online actions you choose

A product lookup sends the selected barcode to Open Food Facts; a book lookup sends the ISBN to Google Books. Providers also receive connection information such as an IP address. Opening a website, map, contact action, sharing or shopping search passes relevant content to the chosen app or service. Offline scanning and QR creation do not require these lookups.

Email addresses and phone numbers

Scanned or created content may contain email addresses and phone numbers. You can recognize, create and save this content on your device without sending it off-device for core scanning. If you choose to email, dial, add a contact, share content or export a file, the relevant address, number or content containing it is passed to the app you select. A web search sends the selected text to Google Search; opening a link sends information in the URL to the destination website. These external actions are optional, and recipients process and retain data under their own policies. We do not submit these addresses, numbers or QR contents as app analytics event parameters or advertising request parameters.

Usage analytics

Firebase Analytics is enabled by default to understand feature use, screen visits, successful scans and creations, errors and ad performance. Google may process an app-instance identifier, device and app versions, usage events and connection information. Our events do not include QR contents, images, URLs, Wi-Fi passwords, contacts, search terms, record IDs or precise location. We do not set a signed-in user ID. Analytics advertising-ID collection and ad-personalization signals are disabled in this app.

The current version has no in-app analytics switch. A previous choice to disable analytics is retained; clearing app storage or reinstalling restores the default enabled setting. Removing local data does not automatically delete data previously processed by providers. Contact the developer for information or data requests.

Advertising

The app includes Google AdMob app-open and home-screen banner ads. The ads SDK may process IP addresses, device or advertising identifiers, ad impressions, clicks and diagnostics for ad delivery, measurement and abuse prevention. Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) manages advertising privacy choices. Where consent is required, ad requests follow the applicable choices. When available, reopen them in Settings → Advertising privacy choices. Advertising choices and usage analytics are handled separately; changing advertising choices does not turn off analytics.

Retention and deletion

Scan records remain on your device until you delete them, clear app storage or uninstall. Exported copies must be removed separately. Provider retention follows their policies and the project configuration; this policy does not promise an unverified fixed retention period. See Delete your data. Contact the developer for access or deletion questions without sending QR contents, passwords or full contact details.
